Trying to be a Good Dad!
As Rosemary was growing up I tried to get in involved in different things to show her what is important and that giving back is one of those things.
We volunteered for the ringing of the bells for the Salvation Army. We did Steppin' out in Pink a couple of years. i took her to girl scouts and helped her sell lots of cookies.
We went kayaking a few times and she was good at it. There was a lady who volunteered at her school that I had met and she knew Rosemary as a kind, bright child. She had kayaks at her house she said we could use and we went up there a couple of times and had fun. We did also do some kayaking at an event and Rosemary was good at it. She declined to do the zip line thought.
Involved in Church
After her mother bailed I kept taking Rosemary to church every weekend I had her and on Wednesday nights for a meal and to hang out with her church friends. Our goal was to get her through her first communion which was in the 5th grade. We were less than a month away for getting her 1st communion and her mother declared Rosemary does not want to do it and that is when the visits from Rosemary got less frequent. I believe at Christmas that year Rosemary did not come to our family event when she when everyone was expecting her. They all had gifts for her and were always happy to have Rosemary at our family events. Her mother asked if I could drop off the presents for her. Nooo! What a bad dad I am!!! Basically after that I could never count on Rosemary showing up.
